Wetsuit Repairs Geelong
Wetsuit repairs for Geelong surfers, divers and swimmers. Tears, seams, zips and seals fixed properly. Drop off at Ocean Grove or post it in.
The bench · Ocean Grove
Geelong suits make up a solid share of what comes across our bench.
The shack is in Ocean Grove, about 35 minutes down the road from central Geelong. Most people driving out to Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove or Thirteenth Beach are passing the door anyway. If you would rather not make the trip, post it in and we will post it back for $15.
Either way you get the same thing: an honest inspection, photos of every problem, a fixed quote, and nothing done until you approve it.
What we fix
Everything that fails on a wetsuit.

What Geelong suits arrive with
There is a pattern to it, and it comes down to where people surf and swim.
Fin cuts from the Surf Coast and Thirteenth Beach. Anyone driving out from Geelong for a session at Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads or Torquay is surfing beach breaks with a fair bit of traffic in the water. Fin cuts to the thigh and calf are the single most common repair we do, and most of them arrive from Geelong postcodes.
Reef scuffs from Bells and Winki. Different damage entirely. Ragged edges instead of clean slices, and often abrasion around the tear that needs reinforcing rather than just patching.
Zips killed by neglect. Corio Bay swimmers and the pool to open water crowd tend to rinse less than surfers do. Salt and chlorine dry inside a zip track and the slider starts fighting. Force it twice and you are up for a full zip replacement instead of a cheap slider swap.
Knee wear on the winter crowd. Anyone surfing through a Geelong winter is in a 4/3 or a 5/4 for five months solid. Knee panels wear from board wax and sand, and by August they are ready to blow.
Tri suits from the Ironman and open water swimmers. Geelong has a serious triathlon and open water swimming scene. Thin skin tri neoprene is a different material with a different repair method, and we price it separately. Fingernail tears getting the suit on are the classic. Note that we do not replace zips on tri suits.
Getting your suit to us
Drop off at the shack. 9 to 11 Sinclair Street, Ocean Grove. Open Thursday and Friday 11am to 5pm, and Saturday 9am to 1pm, with drop-off available when we are closed. Around 35 minutes from central Geelong down the Bellarine Highway. Wash and dry the suit first, we cannot assess a wet suit.
Post it in. Tracked satchel to the same address. A 3kg satchel handles most single suits. We post it back for $15 anywhere in Australia, selected at checkout, and drop-off is free.
Bring it on your way to a surf. Plenty of people drop a suit off and collect it the following week on the way out to the beach. That works fine.
Whichever way it arrives, wash it in fresh water and dry it inside out for 24 hours first. Salt and sand hide damage and glue does not bond to either.
What happens next
We inspect and photograph. Every issue, including the ones you did not mention. Thin spots, early seam separation, a zip on its way out. You get to decide what to do about them.
You get a fixed quote. Itemised, so you can see what each repair costs on its own.
You approve what you want done. Fix the tear and skip the cosmetic seam if that suits your budget. Nothing goes ahead until you say so.
We do the work. Hand stitched, seam glued, pressure tested.
Back to Geelong. Post for $15, or collect from the shack.
Every repair carries a 3 month workmanship warranty. If it is not right when it leaves, we redo it.
Why not just buy a new one
A mid range 4/3 in a Geelong surf shop is around $520 and a premium suit is past $700. A repair is a small fraction of either, every job is listed individually on the repairs page with a fixed starting price, and there is discounted pricing when several repairs are done at the same time.
There is also the fit argument. A suit that has moulded to you over two seasons is more comfortable than anything new off a rack, and you do not spend a month breaking it in through the coldest part of the year.
And the landfill argument, which matters here more than most places. Neoprene takes around a century to break down. Every suit we save is one that is not in the bin.
If you want to run the numbers on your own suit, our repair or replace guide has the maths, and the full price breakdown is here.
Trade and club repairs
We work with surf schools, dive shops, triathlon clubs and swim squads across Geelong and the Bellarine on bulk repair runs. Hire fleets are the classic case: 30 suits at end of season, sorted into repair, reinforce and retire.
Bulk pricing and a single turnaround date. Get in touch through the trade page.
Areas we cover
Geelong and the surrounding suburbs, including Newtown, Belmont, Highton, Grovedale, Waurn Ponds, Corio, Lara, Leopold and Drysdale. We also handle wetsuit repairs across the Bellarine Peninsula, covering Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, Point Lonsdale, Queenscliff, Portarlington and St Leonards, and down the Surf Coast to Torquay, Jan Juc and Anglesea.
The workshop itself sits in Ocean Grove, so if that is your home beach, the Ocean Grove wetsuit repair page covers local drop off and the damage we see most there.
Everywhere else in Australia is covered by post.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I get a wetsuit repaired in Geelong?
The Wetsuit Repair Shack is the closest dedicated wetsuit repair workshop to Geelong, based at 9 to 11 Sinclair Street, Ocean Grove, about 35 minutes from the city centre. You can drop off in person Thursday and Friday between 11am and 5pm or Saturday between 9am and 1pm, with drop-off available when we are closed, or post the suit in and have it returned for $15.
How much do wetsuit repairs cost in Geelong?
Every job is listed individually on our repairs page with a fixed starting price. Inspection and quoting are free, the quote is fixed in writing with photos before any work starts, and discounted pricing applies when several repairs are done at the same time.
Do I have to drive to Ocean Grove?
No. Post a tracked satchel to the shack and we will post the suit back to your Geelong address for $15. Plenty of local customers never make the trip.
Do you repair triathlon and open water swimming wetsuits?
Yes. Thin skin tri suit neoprene needs a specific patching method and is listed on its own line on the repairs page. Fingernail tears from getting the suit on are the most common tri repair we see. We do not replace zips on tri suits.
Can you repair my wetsuit while I wait?
No. Glue needs to cure, usually 24 hours, and rushing that is how a repair fails. Drop off and collect, or post it in.
Do you repair dive wetsuits and drysuits?
Dive wetsuits, yes. Ask us about drysuits, since those are quoted case by case.
