These are the questions that come up most. If yours isn't here, just ask.
01 · About repairs

About repairs.

How long do repairs take? +
Most repairs take 3–7 days on the bench. Single fixes 3–7 days, tune-ups 3–7 days, full restores 5–7 days. Add 3–7 days each way for shipping.
Will the repair be invisible? +
Patches are done from the inside, and outside - however, for seams, we often will use a 4-way stretch tape to ensure the seams do not split.
Can you fix any wetsuit? +
We match neoprene thickness and finish. Stitching is hand-done and tidy.
Do you repair drysuits, hoods, booties? +
Almost always — but not always. If the neoprene has gone brittle (dries out and cracks like cardboard), no glue will hold. We'll inspect honestly and tell you straight.
Do you do alterations? +
Yes. Drysuit gaskets (latex/silicone), bootie soles, hood neck-seals — all on the menu. See pricing for detail.
02 · Shipping & pickup

Shipping & pickup.

How does ship-in work? +
Simple, send us an equiry or book a product for repair - send your wetsuit to the Boardsox Shack. Return Shipping is $15.
Can I drop my suit off? +
Yes. The shack is open Mon–Fri, 11am – 5pm at 9-11 Sinclair St, Ocean Grove. After hours by appointment.
Do you do local pickup? +
How will I know it's ready? +
Every order has a tracking page with photos as we go. You'll also get an email when it ships back.
03 · Pricing & warranty

Pricing & warranty.

How accurate are the online quotes? +
Estimates are within 10% in 90%+ of cases. We send a fixed quote within 24h of the suit arriving — no work happens until you approve it.
What if I don't accept the quote? +
Then we ship it back, no charge, no hard feelings. (You'll just cover the return postage.)
What does the 3-month warranty cover? +
If a repaired area fails because of how we did the repair — patch lifts, glue lets go, stitch unravels — we redo it free, ship-both-ways included. New damage isn't covered.
Do you offer trade or shop discounts? +
Yes — surf shops, dive ops, schools, lifesaving clubs all get 15%. Email us with the details.
04 · Looking after your suit

Looking after your suit.

How do I make my suit last? +
Rinse in fresh water after every surf. Dry inside-out, in shade. Store on a wide hanger, never folded long-term. Don't pee in it. (We sell wash and a wide hanger if you'd like.)
What if my suit smells? +
Small tears, yes. Our DIY kit has the same Black Witch we use on the bench, plus a bit of practice neoprene. Anything more than a 5cm tear, send it in.
Still got a question?

Just ask.
We'll answer.

We answer every email within a day, usually within an hour. The phone's on the bench Monday to Friday.

"There's no such thing as a stupid question about a wetsuit."
